Footnote

FOOTNOTE GUIDES

A clearer path from claim to evidence.

Use Footnote while you read. These guides explain how to check a claim, explore its sources, and understand what a result can—and cannot—tell you.

What is Footnote?

Footnote is an AI-assisted fact-checking tool and Chrome extension. It submits a selected claim or captured page to an evidence-checking backend and presents a conclusion with source links in a panel on the page.

The extension handles capture and results. The website is used for sign-in and payment management. You do not need to keep the website open while checking claims.

Start with a specific claim

A single factual sentence is usually easier to investigate than an entire feed or long article. Include relevant names, dates, places, and quantities. Read the explanation and underlying sources before relying on a verdict.
